The first step in applying for sliding scale tuition is to create a Clarity account. With an account, you can fill out and submit an application. This normally takes less than 30 minutes. Saving your progress and completing the application later is also an option.

While there is a $65 fee to submit a Clarity application, you can submit the same application to any other schools that accept it for no additional charge.

The deadline for submitting a Clarity application and all relevant supplemental documents is January 21, 2027 for currently enrolled families and February 1, 2027 for prospective families. If you do not submit all required documents, we may withdraw the entire grant. Applications for sliding scale tuition for new families can only be processed if the student’s admissions application is complete.

Sliding Scale Tuition award determination letters will be mailed along with enrollment contracts.

Sliding Scale Tuition FAQ

Will we receive sliding scale tuition if our family qualifies?

We try to accommodate as many requests as possible, but budget limitations mean we cannot guarantee an award. Continuing students get priority over new students for sliding scale tuition. Families who apply after our application deadline have a lower chance of receiving an award.

Do we need to apply for sliding scale tuition each year?

Yes. Sliding scale tuition applications must be submitted each year. If your family’s financial situation declines, we will strive to make it possible for your children to remain at La Scuola, while also expecting your family to make other adjustments to expenditures. If your family’s financial situation improves, we reserve the right to adjust the amount of your award.

We did not apply for sliding scale tuition when we began at La Scuola. Can we apply now?

Families should apply for sliding scale tuition when they first apply to La Scuola. Families who have not previously applied will not be eligible unless they demonstrate a significant change in their financial situation.

Does a non-working parent affect the Sliding Scale Tuition award?

La Scuola expects that parents are doing all they can to pay for tuition to the best of their ability and we expect that both parents will be gainfully employed, baring exceptions. If one or both parents are not employed, a salary will be imputed for the non working parent(s).

Are non-custodial and/or parents responsible for a child’s tuition?

La Scuola considers the custodial parents (married, divorced, or separated), step-parents, non-custodial parents, domestic partners, life partners, and legal guardians responsible for tuition. If a responsible adult is not included in the joint income tax return, a separate Clarity application will be required regardless of custody or financial responsibility.

If we’re paying tuition for children at multiple schools, do we need to apply for sliding scale tuition at all of them?

We expect you to apply for sliding scale tuition at all schools. We cannot subsidize tuition at other schools or colleges.
